The fast changing world of retailing means that most units will undergo many internal re-fits during their working life. The shell architecture design must therefore be cognisant of the many changes which may take place in addition to meeting the requirements of the initial occupier if longer-term investment value is to be realised. Customer convenience and efficient servicing design are equally critical design issues.
