PHILOSOPHY
Architecture is more than aesthetics. It requires not only flair and imagination but also an appreciation of practical reality to achieve, and hopefully surpass, the aims of a client. We provide solutions which address the wider issues beyond aesthetics, which meet both functional needs and commercial reality.
Our Partners have a diverse field of experience. Much of our work involves existing buildings. Here the challenge is to enhance the existing, to secure the building and its usability for the future, whilst simultaneously exercising respect for the past. This must be undertaken with sensitivity to the surroundings.
Additionally, we are conversant with contemporary construction techniques, particularly timber frame construction and generally with modern methods of construction and procurement.
Our accumulated wealth of knowledge of local, traditional techniques runs parallel with our expertise of contemporary building construction.
It is from this foundation that Craig and Green Architects builds a responsible, analytical, problem-solving approach to commissions by first exercising a thorough initial appraisal and evaluation.
The Practice consciously avoids specialisation and formulaic solutions. We do not perpetuate a ‘house-style'. This ensures a fresh, innovative approach. The bespoke solution is our specialism.
Our philosophy is to achieve high quality design by providing this fresh and individual approach to every project and one which encompasses our passion for our work and pride in our abilities.
